Fire barriers are an essential element of passive fire protection and are needed to help prevent the spread of a fire within a building. They are placed in hidden areas of a building and protect against fire and smoke. Having the right fire barriers in the right places, such as walls, floors and ceilings can reduce the rate of a fire spreading, allowing precious time for a safe evacuation to take place.

Compartmentalising a building can help limit the spread of smoke and fire by restricting it to the area it breaks out in. The rapid spread of fire poses a great risk to life and damage to a building. There are a lot of different fire barriers available, including:

Modular Fire Barriers: These systems are usually installed in outdoor structures and are used to separate transformers so that if one fails, it does not spread to the others, minimising collateral damage.

Firewalls: The main purpose of a firewall is to slow down the spread of fire and smoke. They are integral for subdividing a building by acting as a barrier between rooms.

Fire Partitions: These are walls inside a building which extend from the ceiling to the floor and offer fire protection for a period of one to two hours.

Here at Surefire Passive we are able to conduct the safe installation of fire barriers and carry out regular maintenance work to ensure your passive fire protection is working efficiently. To find out more information about how we can help you contact us now
